Hearing His Story~ How Compassion Changed His Life

All week long at Student Life Camp we talked with Viky the LDP from India. He is such a nice young man.  On Thursday night at SL Matt Chandler preached on "serving"~  "The key to life is not to save yourself, but to die."  Eph. 2:3-4  "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourself. Let each of you look not only to his own interest, but also to the interest of others."
Then Viky shared his story of how Compassion International came into his life. How is Dad only made $2 a day and could not support his family....   how his dad turned to alcohol....    but when he was 5 yrs old he was sponsored.  Through Viky's needs being met....  his parents started attending church with him and his dad came to know the Lord.

I asked lots of questions. His mom & dad are well...  he has a brother and sister. I asked what kind of American food he liked... he said pizza...  I asked if he liked chocolate and he said yes. I told him we would bring him some. He said...  "ok."

We brought him lots of chocolate... he was excited. He hugged me several times and said ... "you are family."
On our last night....   he saw Lysa and he asked where I was.... "where is your mother?"  She told him I was coming.  I asked him to write down his parents name and siblings so I could pray for them by name. Before I went in for our last session he said, "I am going to miss you."
So once again.....  we sponsor through Compassion International to make a difference in the life of a child...  and they make such a difference in our lives! So very thankful to have met Vicky.  Like he said we are family! God just does it.

You can change someone's life.... today!

  2. So awesome that you got to meet him, hear his story and get to know him better. This is when Compassion becomes even more real and God begins to weave the ministry into our lives.
