It has been cold and rainy here in South Georgia. Not like some of you with deep snow and sub zero temps. but for us.... staying in the 20-30's here... without SUN really is NOT our normal. I often wonder how you do it.... I guess we adjust to whatever climate we are accustom to.
I am reading "One Thousand Gifts." It is really speaking to my heart. I started reading over at Ann's blog back in 2006... (I think)~ might have been 2005. She blogged about her thankful list= One Thousand Gifts. I started in 2007. Reading her book.... allows me to see into Ann's life... and see how God has been constant... real and faithful to her.
For the past several years I have talked to my children about "being grateful/thankful." I asked them to start their own thankful journals. Some have.... some have but then let it go... a few continue. A heart of gratitude is life changing. Ann talks about this in chapter 2.
Do we see God's gifts right where we are at? We do not have to go to the beach, or Disney World or Paris ... His gifts are all around us. Seeing His beauty around me has changed the way I see it all....
Last week we received our first letter from our correspondent child Betlhem.... and on Friday I received a letter from Ucok our sponsored child from Indonesia! I love the letters from our Compassion children! He thanked us for the Christmas gift and said he loved marbles! He asked how the weather was here... said it was the raining season there. It is still not in his hand writing... he is only 6. I look forward to the day when he writes it!
This past week I also received the information packet in the mail from Compassion for Compassion Sunday. This is a first for me. Our pastor is looking over the packet and he will let me know if its a go for me to do Compassion Sunday at our church. I am really excited but also very nervous.
So what's happening at your place? How's the weather there... as Ucok asked us...
Grace and peace~
We just got letters from our World Vision children thanking us for your Christmas gifts. What a treat it is to hear from them and get pictures, too!
ReplyDeletePraying for you that God would open the doors for you to host a Compassion Sunday at your church!
