Christmas Adam....

We call today "Christmas Adam."  I know it sounds funny.  Years ago my son's friend started calling today "Christmas Adam" because it is the day before Eve... and Adam comes before Eve.  ~

I made my last trip to the store.  I did forget a couple things.  One of my older children will be going back to town before Christmas and they will pick up what I need....   want.

Michael and Amber will be here tomorrow night.....   they spend Christmas Eve with her family and then Christmas day with us.   We plan to go to Orlando for New Year.   We are thinking of letting Wyatt and Wesley go back to Orlando with them on Tuesday or Wednesday. We will go down on Friday morning. I haven't let the boys do this....I know they are old enough... and it is with their oldest brother....  makes me a little sad.  They will love it...

Mandi plans to go work/volunteer at theYouth Evangelism Tour on Tuesday and Dakota will leave on Monday for a ski trip with our church.  Once the boys leave with Mike....  it will just be Alyssa, dh and I.   Just for a bit and then we will go to Florida.

My sister may come up tomorrow....   this would be the first time since 2007.  She is a nurse and works lots.  She's a widow and doesn't have children.   My kids like her to come....

We always miss my parents especially this time of year.   I always remember how "JOLLY" my Dad was at Christmas time...   he wasn't large but he was jolly!  He would sing Christmas carols .... with the kids and he loved Christmas with them.   He loved my Grandmothers fruitcake....  loved it. It isn't your normal fruit cake. It was my Grandmother's pound cake with fruit added.  I made one the other day....  not many like it here but I still make one each year.

May you enjoy these few days... before Christmas.

  1. we ran our last errands today and are now home making cookies. I have to practice at church tonight (I'm playing violin at the Christmas Eve service).

I think we are ready to settle in for a quiet (and lonely) Christmas. We have no family around so it will just be the 4 of us. We will try to do a "Christmas Hike" tomorrow since Kevin has the day off.

Blessings to you and your family!

  2. Teena,
Just wanted to let you know that I DID make the fruitcake. Not many in my family like fruitcake but I thought it was pretty tasty and it just keeps getting better as the days go by! :-) DH likes it too!! Definitely a "keeper" recipe!!

    Happy New Year!!
    Love,
    Kris

  3. Cute. Christmas Adam. I've made fruitcake before and not one person would even taste it. So, I've never made it since!
