What's Working and What's Not.

We are starting our Unit 15 in our Heart of Dakota. Each Unit takes 4 days.  So, we are rocking along pretty good.  Some complaints along the way are....  "it is a lot of reading...."  Some of the books they have to read are a bit boring!  We are doing Resurrection to Reformation this year.

I really do love HOD.  Lysa is a few units behind us and she is in the World Geography this year. One of her favorite books so far is "Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus."  Lysa is trying to juggle school and her new job! She started working at a local shoe store. The owners are lifelong friends and they home schooled their five children.  Lysa really loves it.  She is adjusting to school, chores, work and free time.  Can't believe she is driving and working!

The boys were becoming stressed with their Language so we are changing it up a bit. They do lots of writing in their HOD .... so, we are throwing in some Daily Grams. We may come back to their Language... or maybe not.

Most of our school is in the mornings. We do not get up at dark-thirty. Lysa is usually up before anyone and will start on her chemistry & Alg 2. The boys get started between 9:30-10:00am.  One of their friends at church asked them about home schooling. Wes told him "we start about 10am and finish around 2 or 2:30."  His friend said... "do you guys learn anything?"    Oh how funny!

They are both doing Saxon Math, and Lysa loves Teaching Textbooks.

For the month of December we will be doing our Advent Surprises & devotions. I am looking forward to this ....    I just love it!

How is school coming along for all of you?
