Five Years Now.....

It's been a crazy couple of weeks.....  I thought I missed the anniversary date of our first sponsorship! In the side bar it says five yrs and four days....  but when I went to the Compassion site... it will be five years on the 14th of this month!~

Five years ago this month.....

On March 14, 2008 ....   we sponsored our first child. He was almost 4 yrs old....

yes ... the pictures are small and blurry. But, you can see how he has grown. When we sponsored him five years ago he was almost 4. He will turn 9 next month.  We have seen him grow into a sweet young boy. Ertius is from Indonesia. There are five children in his family. Most adults in this area make about $45 a month.

In the letters we write .... we tell him how very special he is to us. How special he is to God. How much Jesus loves him and promises to never leave him. We tell him that we pray for him and his family. We want him to know that his poverty doesn't define him. He is precious in God's sight... and ours.

He tells us in his *short* letters.....

He loves to draw. He loves us and prays for us. He washes dishes.

Compassion changes lives. It has changed Ertius (Ucok) life and it has changed our life. The way we see life is different... the way we live is different....
